MALIA SHOJI
HEAD VOLLEYBALL COACH

Malia Shoji was named the eighth head coach in UNLV volleyball history on January 4, 2023. 

Shoji comes to Las Vegas after having spent the last eight seasons overall with the Utah volleyball program and the last five as its associate head coach. She helped the Utes qualify for six-straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including two Sweet 16’s and three consecutive third-place finishes in the Pac-12 Conference.

BRIAN MAGBITANG
ASSISTANT VOLLEYBALL COACH / DIRECTOR OF VOLLEYBALL

Magbitang most recently worked on the Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball staff as the Video & Administrative Coordinator. He was instrumental to the program’s National Championship runner-up finishes at the 2021 and 2023 NCAA DI Volleyball Championships and the outright Big Ten Conference Championship in 2023.

Prior to his work on the volleyball court, he spent eight years in the United States Air Force as a Technical Sergeant serving two overseas tours of duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

DEJA HARRIS
ASSISTANT VOLLEYBALL COACH / RECRUITING COORDINATOR

The UNLV volleyball team brought back former assistant coach Deja Harris as the team’s Director of Technology and Analytics, the team announced during the spring 2024 season. A native of Las Vegas, Harris returned to the sideline in her hometown after having previously been a volunteer assistant coach for the Rebels during the 2021 season..

A former collegiate standout at San Diego State from 2014-18, she also played professionally overseas in Halmstad, Sweden and the A1 League in Caserta, Italy in 2019 and 2020.

KEN KO
ASSISTANT VOLLEYBALL COACH

The Scarlet & Gray hired the former 2018 NEC Coach of the Year, Ken Ko, to the coaching staff at the start of the New Year in 2024. He arrives in Las Vegas after running the helm at Long Island University.

Ko guided his team to eight consecutive Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament appearances, three NEC regular season titles, two NEC Tournament championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances.

FRANK CRAIG III
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Frank Craig III was announced as a new member of UNLV Volleyball staff in the summer of 2024. Craig III brings in a variety of experience across a variety of roles in the sport, most recently as an assistant coach for East Carolina University. Last season, he helped lead the team to a 21-11 overall record and their first postseason bid in program history. Prior to joining the Pirates, Craig III spent eight seasons at Oral Roberts University in different roles, spending three seasons as the program’s Head Coach from 2020 – 2023. In his playing days, Craig III was an AVCA All-American and Great Lakes Player of the Year in 2015, representing Lourdes University.
